Prof. Fung Kwan and his coauthors’ recent publication “Wage Differentials Between Local and Foreign Workers in Macao: Discrimination?” was published in the Journal of Asian Economics. Their publication is about the wage differentials between local and foreign workers in Macao.
Prof. Kwan and his coauthors apply standard wage decomposition techniques to official wage statistics to identify wage gaps according to sector and occupation, among other dimensions. They find that Macao’s employers tend to pay skilled foreign workers premium wages but less-skilled foreign workers receive lower wages than their local counterparts.
