Prof. Yang Wang, UM Distinguished Visiting Scholar and Researcher of the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology (SIAT) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) visited APAEM at the University of Macau (UM). He engaged in fruitful discussions with Prof. Rob Law, Deputy Director of APAEM, and Prof. Jerome Yen, Distinguished Professor of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST). The focus of their meeting revolved around potential research collaborations, specifically in the areas of cloud computing applications and big data processing for smart tourism destinations.
Prof. Yang Wang is an expert in cloud computing and big data processing, and his research areas include cloud storage, virtualization technology, and parallel and distributed computing. Presently serving as one of the UM Distinguished Visiting Scholars, he recently shared his research findings on “Edge-cloud Collaborative Computing in a Microservices Architecture” during his academic visit and exchange program.
The UM Distinguished Visiting Scholar scheme aims to attract outstanding scholars from around the world to visit UM and carry out joint research projects with UM researchers, so as to strengthen academic exchange and collaboration between UM and the world’s top universities, which will further enhance UM’s research capacity and international reputation. As part of this endeavor, UM and SIAT are currently collaborating on a Type C project under the Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Macao Science and Technology Research Programme titled “Edge-Cloud Intelligent Collaborative Computing Methods and C-V2X Oriented Applications”.
