Workshop on “Overview of Macao’s Financial Sector and its Development Plans”
On the 14th of this month, APAEM scholars from the research team Macao Economy, and faculty members and postgraduate students from the Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS) and the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) of the University of Macau (UM) participated in a workshop themed “Overview of Macao’s Financial Sector and its Development Plans.” In this event, participants facilitated in-depth discussions with representatives from the Monetary Authority of Macau (AMCM).
The workshop was moderated by Prof. Fung Kwan, an APAEM researcher and Assistant Professor in the FSS of UM. In the workshop, Ms. Helena Leong, Director of the Research and Statistics Department of AMCM, first gave a presentation on the current development of Macao’s financial industry. Ms. Isabel Choy, Senior Economist of the Research and Statistics Department of AMCM, then introduced the role and structure of AMCM. Afterwards, the two speakers and Ms. Cindy Huang, Assistant Economist of the Research and Statistics Department of AMCM, provided a presentation outlining the financial policies in the new Policy Address.
Attendees, including scholars and students, expressed strong interest in the topics presented and engaged in lively discussions with the AMCM representatives, raising questions and exchanging ideas. Many participants reported significant benefits from the workshop. In closing, Prof. Kwan extended heartfelt thanks to the AMCM representatives, and the event concluded with a round of enthusiastic applause.
