Department of Economics of FSS of UM and Faculty of Finance of CityU Macau collaborate on successful joint workshop

On March 5, 2024, the Department of Economics of the Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS) at the University of Macau (UM) and the Faculty of Finance of the City University of Macau (CityU Macau) joined forces to host a highly successful joint workshop at the FSS of UM. Assistant Professor Fung Kwan and his doctoral student, Ms. Xingshu Ma, from the Department of Economics of FSS of UM, presented their working paper titled “Land titling and crop production efficiency in China: a meta-frontier analysis.” Additionally, Assistant Professor Hoipan Wong presented his research paper on “Aging, Diseases and the Great Dispersion of Wealth Distribution”. From the Faculty of Finance of CityU Macau, Assistant Professor Di Li and Assistant Professor Lin Deng shared their latest working papers titled “Hedging China’s carbon markets” and “Workplace Gun Rights and Corporate Innovation,” respectively.

The workshop was attended by esteemed participants, including Professor Angus Chu, the Head of Department of Economics of FSS of UM, Associate Professor Inácio BÓ, Associate Professor Yibai Yang, Assistant Professor Ruiyang Hu, Assistant Professor Yubo Tao, as well as Professor Wai Kong Cheung, the Dean of Faculty of Finance of CityU Macau, Professor Yonghong Zhou, Assistant Professor Meng Li, Assistant Professor Lu Liu, Lecturer Cheng Wai Sou, and Lecturer Kelly Liang.

This collaborative effort not only bolstered academic exchanges between the two institutions but also strengthened the ties and cooperation among higher education establishments in Macau.
