Prof. Rob Law was invited to deliver an academic lecture at Beihang University

Prof. Law employed quantitative analysis to examine the relationship between characteristics of academic publications and their citation performance
On April 21, 2025, Prof. Rob Law, Deputy Director of APAEM, was invited to visit the School of Economics and Management at Beihang University, where he delivered an academic lecture titled “Research and Citations” for faculty and students. The lecture focused on strategies to enhance the impact of academic research, systematically analyzing the formation mechanisms and key factors behind highly cited scholarly achievements.
Based on Prof. Law’s research findings, he employed quantitative analysis to examine the relationship between characteristics of academic publications and their citation performance. The study thoroughly examined a number of factors related to highly cited papers, such as article length, authorship, collaboration, and citation counts. Empirical results revealed a significant negative correlation between paper title length and annual citation counts, providing valuable insights for scholars to optimize their writing strategies.
The lecture fostered a vibrant academic atmosphere, with attendees engaging in in-depth discussions with Prof. Law regarding the theoretical significance and practical applications of the research. This academic event not only provided valuable guidance to faculty and students at Beihang University’s School of Economics and Management but also opened new avenues for improving the quality and academic influence of research papers.
