From October 30 to 31, Prof. Rob Law, Deputy Director of APAEM at the University of Macau (UM), was invited by the Faculty of Hotel and Tourism Management at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia, to serve as the keynote speaker for two online seminars. He provided in-depth insights on technological applications, challenges, and developments in tourism and hospitality, as well as research writing and publication. The sessions were moderated by Dr. Tania Maria Tangit, a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Hotel and Tourism Management, and Mr. Brandon Chai An Weng, an English Lecturer, both from UiTM.
Prof. Law conducted two specialized seminars titled “Tourism and Hospitality Technology: Applications, Challenges, and Future Directions” and “Research Writing and Publishing in SSCI/SCI/Scopus-indexed Journals.” Integrating both practical and theoretical perspectives, he analyzed the evolving role of technology in tourism and hospitality, while systematically elaborating on core strategies and experiences in research writing and publication. Throughout his presentations, Prof. Law not only addressed key challenges in current technological applications but also provided forward-looking insights into future developments. Furthermore, he shared practical advice on publishing research in high-quality international journals.
The seminars attracted active participation from over 270 faculty members and students at UiTM, with vibrant interaction throughout both sessions. Attendees consistently expressed that the content was both comprehensive and inspiring, significantly enhancing their understanding of technological innovations in tourism and hospitality while stimulating deeper reflection on academic writing and publication. Participants reported gaining substantial value from the experience.
