Participants pay attention to the panel discussions

The “Roundtable on Impactful Multidisciplinary and Business Research,” hosted by the Asia-Pacific Academy of Economics and Management (APAEM) and co-hosted by the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) at the University of Macau (UM), was successfully held on November 8, 2024. The seminar focused on the theme of “impactful research,” bringing together 12 scholars from the FBA, Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS), and Faculty of Law (FLL) at UM to explore how research can extend its influence and contribution beyond academia through an interdisciplinary perspective. The event attracted over 70 postgraduate students, researchers, faculty members, and industry professionals, fostering significant academic exchange.

The roundtable featured two engaging discussion sessions. The first session was moderated by Professor Raymond Loi in Management from the FBA, and included distinguished panelists such as Distinguished Professor Ning Zhang in Accounting, Associate Professor Feng Bai in Management, Associate Professor Jing Xie in Finance, and Assistant Professor Fiona Yang in Integrated Resort and Tourism Management. The second APAEM panel discussion was moderated by APAEM Deputy Director, Professor Rob Law, and featured panelists representing various research teams: Associate Professor Inácio Bó in Economics from FSS and Associate Professor Sili Zhou in Finance from FBA, representing the Asian Economics team; Associate Professor Rachel Ma in Finance from FBA and Assistant Professor Endong Yang in Finance from FBA, representing the Financial Innovation team; and Associate Professor Fangyuan Chen in Marketing from FBA and Associate Professor Li Du in Global Legal Studies from FLL, representing the Smart Tourism team.

The roundtable aimed to promote the development of impactful research by providing a platform for researchers to exchange ideas on their interpretations and definitions of impactful research. Participants engaged in discussions and debates on how to conduct impactful research. By gathering diverse perspectives and insights from various disciplines, the seminar has not only deepened scholarly discussions but also illuminated the connections between academic outputs and community contributions. The successful event facilitated interdisciplinary dialogue and offered new perspectives and solutions for enhancing the societal impact and contributions of research outputs.
