The Contribution and Development in Asian Economics, Financial Innovation and Smart Tourism: APAEM Demonstration Day cum Financial Innovation Symposium, organised by the Asia-Pacific Academy of Economics and Management (APAEM) of the University of Macau (UM) and sponsored by the University of Macau Development Foundation (UMDF), successfully concluded. Representatives from Macao government departments and industries such as banking, tourism and hospitality, and information technology, as well as top scholars and researchers in the fields of Asian economics, financial innovation, and smart tourism actively participated in the event.

During the event, guests had exchanges and discussions on the topics of Asian economics, financial innovation, and smart tourism. Rob Law, deputy director of APAEM, kick-started the event with his sharing ‘Introduction of APAEM’s overall achievements and main impact’. Three concurrent sessions were then held to explore the institute’s three main areas of research. They were ‘The Market Liberalisation for Chinese Capital Market’ by Zhou Sili, professor in the Faculty of Business Administration; ‘Driving Macao’s Appropriate Economic Diversification with Financial Innovation’ by Jerome Yen, professor in the Faculty of Science and Technology; and ‘Transportation Management in Smart Tourism’ by Gong Zhiguo, professor in the Faculty of Science and Technology.

APAEM focuses on the three major areas of Asian economics, financial innovation, and smart tourism, and its research team is composed of UM scholars from different disciplines. By showcasing APAEM’s major achievements, the event provided a platform for the government, industry, and academia to engage in in-depth exchanges and foster cooperation, created an opportunity to promote industry-academia communication and collaboration, as well as serving as a learning and sharing platform for those who are interested. The event aimed to facilitate the innovation and development of economics and management in Macao and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and create more opportunities for academia and industry.
