Prof. Rob Law conducted an academic visit to Deakin University

From February 18 to 26, 2026, Prof. Rob Law, APAEM Deputy Director at the University of Macau (UM), conducted an academic visit to Deakin University’s Melbourne campus in Australia. During the visit, he met with Prof. Gang Li from the School of Information Technology. The two engaged in in-depth discussions centred on shared research interests and future directions for collaboration, exploring opportunities for substantive interdisciplinary research cooperation.

As a key research platform at UM, APAEM is dedicated to promoting interdisciplinary research and fostering international academic exchange. Prof. Law’s visit played an active role in expanding international cooperation networks and deepening substantive partnerships with world-renowned universities, underscoring APAEM’s role as a bridge in advancing cutting-edge research and supporting regional development.

Prof. Gang Li currently serves as the AI director in the Deakin Cyber Security Strategical Research Centre. He is an internationally recognised expert in data science, data privacy, and business intelligence. During the meeting, Prof. Law and Prof. Li shared updates on the latest research developments and strategic directions of their respective institutions. Their discussion focused on interdisciplinary areas such as data science, smart tourism, and the regional tourism economy, with particular attention to identifying concrete pathways and opportunities for future collaboration. Both parties expressed optimism that this visit would lay a strong foundation for deeper cooperation, jointly driving academic innovation and applied progress in emerging fields like smart tourism.
