Prof. Wong’s comments on Macau Business
APAEM scholar, Prof. Alfred Wong, was invited to comment on Macau’s digitalization by Macau Business. Prof. Wong said that, the Macau government has taken many steps to accelerate the city’s smart city development, such as collaborating with Alibaba to upgrade local IT facilities and launching the Bus Travelling System app.
To break through the bottleneck of smart city development, the local government needs to address the challenge of local data privacy law and look for ways to motivate private business operators to participate into the city’s digitalization, rather than working on its own.
