From April 1 to 8, 2026, Prof. Rob Law, Scholar of the University of Macau (UM) and Deputy Director of APAEM, was invited to undertake academic visits to universities in Beijing and Tianjin, aiming to expand APAEM’s academic network and promote interdisciplinary collaboration.

Prof. Law first visited the School of Economics and Management at Beihang University, where he delivered a presentation titled “Tourism and Hospitality Technology: Balancing Innovation with Critical Concerns” to faculty members and students. The seminar was hosted by Prof. Jin-Xing Hao, Associate Dean of the School. In his talk, Prof. Law provided an in-depth analysis of information technology (IT) applications in the tourism and hospitality industry, with a particular focus on the interplay between technological innovation and critical issues. He outlined the key stages and characteristics of IT development and introduced emerging technologies such as robotics and contactless solutions. Prof. Law also addressed the challenges of technology adoption and the obstacles to implementing smart tourism initiatives, highlighting critical issues throughout the technology development lifecycle, including both practical and ethical considerations. The discussion was met with enthusiastic response from the audience.

Following his visit to Beijing, Prof. Law was invited to the College of Tourism and Service Management at Nankai University in Tianjin, where he delivered a lecture titled “Publishing in Top Research Journals and Mistakes in Academic Writing.” The session was hosted by Prof. Jingna Wang from the Department of MICE Economics and Management.  Prof. Law structured the lecture into two parts. The first part focused on key considerations and common pitfalls in the academic writing process, while the second part examined recurring errors often seen in journal submissions. At the conclusion of the lecture, Prof. Jingna Wang offered a brief summary of the key points. Postgraduate students actively engaged with Prof. Law on topics related to manuscript submission and writing strategies, creating a lively and productive atmosphere for academic discussion.
